There’s no doubt that babies are cute and cuddly. Many parents will give up everything just to be able to closely monitor their babies. But then that is not always the case. In the real world, most parents are holding jobs which usually take them away from their babies. The parents will now have to delegate this responsibility for a while to competent individuals like nannies, caregivers, babysitters, or grandparents.
An article about baby hazards was posted in a website for babies. This article includes hazards which the parents—may it be them or other people—must continually look out for when caring for their babies.
The topmost baby hazard included in the article is having grandparents care for babies while parents are away. People are inherently family-oriented and the first option parents have where they can temporarily leave their babies with are the grandparents. The reason is obvious. Grandparents are family and they would not let anything happen to their grandchildren, of course. Another reason is that grandparents would not charge anything for taking care of the babies, whereas, a nanny or babysitter would cost too much. The problem arises when grandparents would insist on caring for the baby in their old-fashioned way and parents may not find this to their liking. So this could be a major source of disagreement.Another hazard is the seemingly nice and harmless pets given by neighbors, family members, or friends. These pets are brought in with good intentions but sometimes harmless pets would act up and babies nearby may not be safe around them.
Visiting friends’ house, store, restaurant, or any other place not equipped with baby equipment is hazardous to your little one. If you cannot stay away from these places since you may probably need their services, then be always on the lookout for any untoward incident that may happen. This is not to say that there always will be one but make sure you’re not caught flatfooted when this happens.
Crib climbing is one of the most anticipated milestones in a baby’s young life. But this is also the most feared since most accidents happen during this stage. Babies climbing out of their cribs with no one to look after them may end up toppling over and getting fracture all over their little bones. Worst, babies could end up banging their head on the floor and suffering a traumatic brain injury which can have a long-term effect on their cognitive and physical function.
All these hazards will always present themselves and all parents could do is to be very careful with their little ones without suffocating them with too much precaution. Parents must also deal with other caregivers of their child in such a way that they are not offended because this may jeopardize a harmonious working relationship with them towards good child rearing.
